Bible study week: Healing

Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Before I start looking at todays content, I would like to thank the Lord for His provision in this ministry. I give thanks and honor for what He has done. The subject of today's topic is about healing. Now a lot of times I have been in situations where I have been asked by the Holy spirit to lay hands on someone and pray for them. This was at first very challenging for me but I just want us to observe a few things that I found interesting about this very topic. Often times I have seen a great number of people voice their take on this issue. So let's dive into it.

The gifts if healing

Looking at the writing of Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 12 verses 4 to 9, there are gifts that the Holy Spirit will give each believer a gift so that the purposes of God are manifest. One thing that I did note was that the Holy Spirit owns these gifts which in turn helps in the edification of the body of believers. If you are reading this and you are a believer rest assured that as long as you have been filled with the Holy Spirit, there is a gift within you which will manifest as long as you act in obedience to the Holy Spirit.

King David, in Psalms 103 verse 2 to 3 talks about forgiveness of sins and healing of the body. In this s verse alone we see King David sharing about how God has the power to forgive sins as well as heal us from physical pain. Well, 1 Peter 2 verse 24, tells us about Christ carrying our sins on the cross and by his stripes you are healed.

In a broken world, such as the one we find ourselves, many of us find ourselves, denying that we have been equiped with the gifts of healing, forgetting that Jesus has given us the authority to cast out demons, raise the dead and heal the sick. If for instance, your mission field is your workplace, it is always good to note that being a disciple, the Holy Spirit can manifest those gifts if you act in obedience.

Hebrews 13 verse 8, informs us that Jesus is the same always. If one could get healed at one point in history one can still be healed today. To live a life like Jesus did, brings healing to other people. In his life of ministry, Jesus allowed the Holy Spirit to manifest in him so that the healing comes to pass and by the same token, we are to live under the same principle if we expect to edify the body.

Imagine one day, meeting Apostle Peter and then he asks you what you did with the teachings that he gave you based on the first hand life of a disciple with Jesus. Mark 34 verse 13 tells us about firstly an apology made by Christ about himself going to sit on the right hand if the Father. Well the story gets better when he tells us what our responsibility is a disciple. In the this scenario if you are the doorkeeper entrusted with the master's house, I suggest that you stay awake and be warned also that what he he has told you, he has told it to all who believe, so that no one will say that he didn't hear that instruction.

Why didn't the healing come immediately

Often times when we pray for people we have an outcome which we believe you be from God. Now, if someone doesn't get healed we ask ourselves what really happened. Often times, I found myself asking this hard question, the I began to read James 5 verse 13 and 14. Now, from what I can gather, a prayer made in faith, can heal the sick. If I recall correctly two things stood out as having amazed Jesus. One was the faith of the centurion who wished for his servant to be healed and second was the unbelief that is on several occasions mentioned as a stumbling block to achieving the purposes of the Kingdom of God.

With that being said, I conclude by 2 Corinthians 12 verse 7 and 8, where we see Apostle Paul admitting to the "thorn to his flesh", so to speak, so that he remains humble. The healing that we often seek may manifest in other forms apart from the physical. Apostle Paul was healed in the unseen realms, yet in the physical, that healing may not have manifested. The moral of the story is tha God's perfect will always prevails. A point if note is that no one is immune to pride. God's grace is always sufficient, especially in those moments of weakness.

Until next time. May you be blessed by the content for this week.

God bless you all.
