Christian Testimony: A lesson learnt from the South Coast

Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is good to be back again with a Christian testimony of the goodness of God. Most recently, I had to reflect on my time travelling along the South Coast. That was when my life was in such a downward spiral. I was battling to focus on what God had set out for me.

One day, I decided to take walk with the cross from Uvongo where I was based at a caravan park all the way to Port Shepstone. It was about 26 kilometers that I had to endure. Anyway, on my way to Port Shepstone, there was a man who shouted and wanted so desperately to see me. I would have actually missed him had it not been for the people on the other side of the road who got my attention.

For several minutes I struggled to cross a busy street with traffic moving at both ends. Eventually I managed to come face to face with this man. He introduced himself as Riaan and he greeted me with a warm smile before asking me where I was going. I told him that I was on my way to Port Shepstone. He then invited me to his restaurant and asked me if I could share my testimony with him which I did. Ironically, there was something he said about a poem he read titled Footprints in the sand which reminded him of his journey in life.

For me it was the first time hearing of this poem. He mentioned that the greatest lesson in life is not reaching the destination when traveling with God, but rather the journey. His words convicted me so much. Using the poem as an example, he gave me a simple analogy about our journey in life. We have to have a form of faith to believe that we will arrive and that if God truly sent us then He will surely finish the work He has started in us. After having a fellowship session with Riaan, his daughter also came in to join us. The three of us sat on that table and began to pray. I almost didn't want to leave but eventually I said goodbye.

Well the moral of the story is that God lives in eternity and is neither bound by space or time. His kingdom is everlasting running from age to age. This journey will never be easy, in fact Jesus speaks of persecution for those who choose to follow him. That is why a personal relationship is important when it comes to handling matters of the Kingdom of God. It is not you who chooses or sends yourself on this mission trip but your Heavenly Father. I thank God for meeting that man because through his testimony, God become my compass at a time when I was double minded about my own journey.

Let me state a scripture in James 1 that is like a pillar for me. Verse 6 talks about making a request in faith and that doubt should be eliminated from your mind if you expect to receive anything from the Lord. That is for me is a Heavenly principle that I have had to embrace, grow in understanding and I am still going through the process of transformation. In all this I have to conclude and leave the rest for another day if the Lord permits.

Be blessed
